Universal Credit and Limited Capability for Work


WHO IS THIS FOR?

This course is for anyone working with Universal Credit claimants looking for a greater understanding of the process when someone is unable to work due to health conditions/disabilities

 

AIMS:

This training aims to give the learners an in-depth understanding of the processes and guidelines around the Work Capability Assessment, starting with the first declaration of being unfit right through to if/when an element is awarded. It will also examine how the system should work for claimants transitioning from ESA to UC and the impact this has on other areas of the claim. Taking a look at problem areas and going away with tips and tactics to support claimants through this problematic area of Universal Credit.

 

OBJECTIVES:

  • Gain an understanding of the full work capability process
  • Gain an understanding of problem areas to look out for
  • Gain an understanding of who can be treated as LCW/LCWRA
  • Gain the confidence to effectively support claimants with health conditions/disabilities with their claims

Intermediate

 

HOW IS THE COURSE DELIVERED?

This course can be delivered online, blended learning, or face to face. It is a practical course delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and cases studies, group discussion, and quizzes.

 

HOW MUCH?

We advise that this course be delivered over a minimum on 6 hours either as:

  • Blended learning - one 90 minunte E-Learning course and one 4 hour online Workshop, or
  • Face-to-face - one full days training.

AFTER THE COURSE:

Learners will receive a copy of the PowerPoint slides, a certificate, and any additional resources such as relevant flowcharts and summary sheets. They will also be asked to complete an evaluation form.

 

IF BOOKING TO BE DELIVERED ONLINE:

We will be in touch to discuss and finalise the arrangements. Learners will need a good wifi connection and a suitable computer/laptop to access both the training session and a second internet-enabled device such as a tablet or smartphone for joining in any quizzes. In the week of the course, learners will receive an email with a link to the course, as well as a reminder just before the course is due to start.

 

IF BOOKING FACE TO FACE:
