Most people making a claim for PIP (including those being 'transferred' from Disability Living Allowance) have to:
1. Make a telephone call giving basic details about themselves (alternatively, a claim can be made by post or, in some areas it is possible to start the claim online - see Step 1 below).
2. Complete a PIP2 form about how their disability affects them.
3. Have a face-to-face assessment with a health professional.
4. Await the decision.
