Moving to/from Scotland

Children with DLA moving from England, Wales or Northern Ireland to Scotland should report this to the DWP or the Department of Communities.

They will need to make a claim for Child Disability Payment with Social Security Scotland.

Their DLA will continue to run-on for a while and will end:

  • on the day before the first pay day after 13 weeks from the date of the move (ie. after maximum 13 weeks and 6 days), or
  • the day before the Child Disability Payment comes into payment, if earlier.

To avoid gaps in entitlement, a claim for Child Disability Payment should be made as soon as possible after moving.
