Petal has been on Universal Credit for three months – she gets it to top up a small works pension and some savings. She’s 62 years old. Her UC Monthly Assessment Periods run from 11th of one month to 10th of the next.

On 1st October she finally buys the new bed with a memory foam mattress that she’s been after. This reduces her savings and she notifies the change on her journal on 6th October.
Her work coach requests evidence of the change and she is given 14 days in which to provide it ie up to 20th October.

If Petal provides the evidence within this time limit then her UC for the MAP ending 10th October can be amended. If Petal provides the evidence later than 20th October (and did not request and be granted an extension of the 14 day time limit) then her UC award can only be adjusted from the MAP ending 10th November.
