Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the DWP temporarily suspended work on the managed migration pilot that was taking place in Harrogate.
The suspension continues, so for a temporary period the DWP will not engage directly with anyone to invite them to claim UC. It is not yet known when it will start again.
Those who have already moved to UC under the pilot will continue to be monitored and supported by DWP for the first few months of their UC claim, as planned
However, there is a different, new, campaign, to promote awareness of UC, known as 'Move to UC'. 'Move to UC' is different to managed migration; if someone chooses to claim UC (outside of the managed migration pilot), there is no Transitional Protection if they end up worse off on UC than they were on their 'legacy' benefits.
It is important to get advice from a benefits expert before claiming Universal Credit - once someone has made a claim they cannot get back onto their 'legacy' benefits.
