KEY FACTS
  • Certain 'family members' of an EEA National can apply to the EU Settlement Scheme.

  • If they have Settled Status - then they can claim Universal Credit as long as they meet the usual claiming criteria.

  • If they have Pre-Settled Status - then they can claim Universal Credit as long as they also have a qualifying 'Right to Reside' for benefit purposes and meet the usual claiming criteria.

  • There are particular definitions of 'family member' and this includes certain 'extended family members'.

  • The 'family member' / 'extended family member' does not need to be an EEA National - they could be a non-EEA National.
