Where an employee has been furloughed they will continue to receive wage payments, but these may be lower than normal. Their employer is able to claim back a grant equal to 80% of an employee's wages to a maximum of £2,500 gross a month (for the Months of March, April, May and June) – and only pay the employee this amount (as agreed with them)..

Any payment under the Job Retention Scheme ie where an employee has been furloughed, is treated as earnings for Universal Credit and assessed in the normal way.
