Universal Credit and EEA Nationals


WHO IS THIS FOR:

This training is designed for staff who would like a practical understanding of which EEA Nationals can claim UC, and the issues around this area. A good understanding of UC will be assumed.

 

AIMS:

The aim of the training is that the Learners will gain an understanding of which EEA Nationals can claim UC and investigate the problems EEA Nationals will run into with hints and tips of how to resolve them. Learners will gain the confidence they need to ask the right questions and to advise claimants appropriately.


 

OBJECTIVES:

  • Explored the various terminology surrounding EEA Nationals and claiming benefits.
  • Gain an understanding of the differences between settled and pre-settled status
  • Gain the knowledge of which EEA Nationals can claim UC
  • Gain an understanding of the 'qualifying rights to reside' and the routes to these
  • Gain an understanding of the rules for non-EEA National 'family members': those who were living in the UK before Brexit and those arriving as 'joining family members'
  • Gain an understanding of the difficulties claiming UC and how to overcome them
  • Learn about what help may be available to EEA nationals who don't qualify for UC

HOW IS THE COURSE DELIVERED:

This course will be delivered blended learning, either online or face to face. It is a practical course delivered using a combination of e-learning, trainer presentation, exercises and cases studies, group discussion, and quizzes.


HOW MUCH:

We advise that this course be delivered over a minimum on 6 hours either as:

  • Blended learning - one 120 min E-Learning courses and one 4 hour online Workshop, or
  • Face-to-face - one full days training.

AFTER THE COURSE:

Learners will receive a copy of the PowerPoint slides, a certificate, and any additional resources such as relevant flowcharts and summary sheets. They will also be asked to complete an evaluation form.

 

IF BOOKING TO BE DELIVERED ONLINE:

We will be in touch to discuss and finalise the arrangements. Learners will need a good wifi connection and a suitable computer/laptop to access both the training session and a second internet-enabled device such as a tablet or smartphone for joining in any quizzes. In the week of the course, learners will receive an email with a link to the course, as well as a reminder just before the course is due to start.

 

IF BOOKING FACE TO FACE:
