Making the most of the Transitional SDP Element

WHO IS THIS FOR?

An ideal course for those providing advice or casework to ESA/Universal Credit claimants with disabilities/health conditions

AIMS:

Since the SDP Gateway closed on 27th January 2021 all claimants have been able to claim UC and many may be entitled to a Transitional SDP Element that will be included when their UC is assessed.
But who gets it, how much, and is it affected by a change in circumstances / benefit uprating? This training answers all these questions. It looks at what this change means for disabled claimants, and how the Transitional SDP Element works. It will give participants the information they need to give accurate advice to claimants affected by this change.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Gain an understanding of who is entitled to the TSDPE
  • Learn about the amounts and who is entitled to which, and how to challenge any errors
  • Gain the knowledge of what changes in circumstances affect the TSDPE
  • Gain an understanding of how erosion works
  • Learn how it works when SDP is awarded retrospectively

LEVEL:

Advanced
