About this course
This course is now available.

Because some disabled claimants are significantly worse off on Universal Credit the government introduced the Severe Disability Premium Gateway in Jan 2019. This prevents certain disabled claimants from being able to claim UC.

This course looks at who is prevented from claiming UC because of this Gateway, who might be able to take advantage of these rules, and the compensation payment available to some claimants who moved onto UC before the Gateway was introduced - as well as some who have moved onto UC since.

This course is being designed for and is aimed at those learners who need to have an awareness of the Severe Disability Premium Gateway and Transitional SDP Payment.

Aimed at: Housing professionals, and advisers working with benefit claimants.

The course will be interactive with small quizzes as you go along.

At the end there will be a quick final quiz so you can test yourself on what you have learned.

A basic knowledge of the benefits system will be assumed.
