This month the DWP will start sending out Migration Notices to the 800,000 claimants who are getting Income-Related ESA (without any Tax Credits). This final stage of managed migration will take many months to complete.
One thing you would want to do, is to maximise a migrating claimant's legacy benefits and therefore any potential Transitional Protection.
One 'extra' many ESA claimants miss out on is the Severe Disability Premium due to the complex rules.
This was an essential webinar for anyone supporting working age benefit claimants. We looked at:
Give a quick refresher on who is entitled to the Severe Disability Premium
Explore what 'living alone' really means - as it does not mean being the only person living in a property!
Consider mistakes and myths - why some people may have missed out and what they should do now.
Examine timing - why it is important to get the Severe Disability Premium added before someone makes their UC claim, and if and what can be done if only spotted afterwards.
What about the Transitional SDP Element? - if not entitled to a managed migration Transitional Element, the DWP should go on to consider whether a claimant is entitled to a TSDPE but this is often missed.
