Online Workshop: UC Problem Areas for those with Health Conditions

 

UC claimants with health conditions are experiencing a variety of problems. Many are missing out on the benefit / back pay they are entitled to, others are not having their health conditions appropriately taken into account.
 

This workshop will outline how the system should work and the key problem areas. It will examine how you can maximise UC for your client, giving hints and tips for challenging UC decisions.

 
WHO IS THIS FOR:
 
An ideal course for those providing advice or casework to Universal Credit claimants with disabilities/health conditions
 
 
WORKSHOP PLAN:
 
  • Which UC claimants can request a WCA but are being refused
  • The rules for workers with a health condition or disability
  • The benefits of being found to have a Limited Capability for Work
  • Who gets the LCW / LCWRA Element i.e. extra UC
  • The 'relevant period' and when it should start
  • Hints and tips around appropriate conditionality and challenging sanctions
  • How UC should work for those with complex needs

Designed to be engaging, informative and interactive, the workshop enables participants to gain a deeper understanding of the topic area.

The workshop is delivered on Teams. It will last 3 hours, and will include a presentation, opportunities for questions, exercises to reinforce learning, discussion of useful tools and an action plan.
 

With a maximum of 16 on each workshop, participants have the opportunity to delve into some of the current issues affecting claimants so that they are able to offer appropriate help and advice.
