Online workshop: Calculating the Transitional Element


This workshop is for those advisers who want to work out / check that claimants' Managed Migration Transitional Element has be assessed correctly.
It explores how the Transitional Element is worked out for those legacy benefit claimants moving onto Universal Credit through the managed migration process.
The information and examples used are based on the Regulations, published guidance, feedback from the DWP and our understanding of how this assessment currently works. 
Aimed at Benefit Advisers and anyone who advises legacy benefit claimants on their entitlement. 
  • A deep dive into how the Transitional Element is worked out
  • How to work out a claimant's Total Legacy Amount
  • How the 'Indicative UC Amount' works differently to a normal UC assessment
  • Why a Tax Credit-only claimant will not have a HCE in their 'Indicative UC Amount' and the implications
  • Special rules for some groups of claimants'
  • Why some claimants who are worse off on UC may not receive a Transitional Element.
