There are several ways to reduce water bills and there are several different schemes available to help people with the cost of their water bills and any arrears. Whether someone can reduce their water bill will depend on whether they have a water meter or pay water rates and may depend on their income.
People paying their water by way of a water meter should:
- Check to see if they qualify for the WaterSure scheme.
- Consider where their surface water goes and claim a rebate if appropriate.
- If they are a low water user, check to see if their supplier has any special tariffs that they could qualify for.
- Ensure they are using all the water savings products that are available for free.
People who pay water rates should:
- Check to see if it would be cheaper for them to have a water meter fitted.
- Consider where their surface water goes and claim a rebate if appropriate.
For those who are in arrears with their water bill
- See if their supplier has a restart scheme or similar.
