This online Masterclass examines the Transitional SDP Element.
Since the SDP Gateway closed on 27th January 2021 all claimants have been able to claim UC and many may be entitled to a Transitional SDP Element that will be included when their UC is assessed.
This training looks at what this change means for disabled claimants, and how the Transitional SDP Element works. It considers how much someone should be entitled to, when this could be reduced, and explains why the loss of PIP doesn't mean the loss of this Element.
It will give participants the information they need to give accurate advice to claimants affected by this change to ensure they receive this Element at the correct amount if entitled.
It also highlights that some claimants can take advantage of the rules by delaying a claim for UC or claiming earlier.
Using case studies throughout to bring the information to life, this Masterclass is an essential course for anyone working with or supporting UC claimants.
WORKSHOP PLAN:
Workshop 1 - Wednesday 11th May, 10.00am - 12.00noon
In this session we look at who is entitled to the Transitional SDP when they first claim UC , how much and who can / should take advantage of the rules.
Workshop 2 - Friday 13th May, 10.00am - 12.00noon
In the session we look at how the Transitional SDP Element can be eroded or lost by changes in the claimants circumstances and highlight errors being made by DWP when they revise an award to include an Element from the start of claim
Workshop 3 - Wednesday 18th May, 10.00am - 12.00noon
In this final session we investigate who may become entitled to the Transitional SDP Element after moving onto UC ie where an award of PIP predates the start of the UC award, or getting the SDP included in a previous award of ESA when it was previously missing
