Calculating Universal Credit - outline

This one day course builds on delegates’ existing knowledge of Universal Credit. It focuses on how Universal Credit is calculated and highlights the differences between the current legacy benefit system and Universal Credit

By the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • Calculate UC,
  • Ensure that their tenants are getting paid the correct amount of UC,
  • Give accurate advice on maximising entitlement, and
  • Understand how changes in circumstances / fluctuating earnings affect the amount awarded.

An understanding of the following will be assumed: how other benefits are assessed; as well as: who can claim Universal Credit, the roll out, claiming process, gateway conditions and monthly assessment periods.
