Disabled Child Element
A Disabled Child Element can be included for each child / qualifying young person who meets the conditions for it, for whom the claimant is responsible and with whom the disabled child normally lives.

It does not matter whether a Child Element is also included for that child / qualifying young person or not.

There are two different levels of Disabled Child Element depending on the severity of the child's disability (2023/2024 rates):

Disabled Child Element (low)

Disabled Child Element (high)

  • Any rate of either component of Personal Independence Payment/Adult Disability Payment apart from the highest rate (ie enhanced rate) of the daily living component.

Disabled Child Element (high)
